As a Taiwanese composer and percussionist, his compositions showcase a vast orchestral vision and a unique contemporary musical vocabulary. After graduating from the National Taiwan University of Arts and studying with Professor Ma Shui-long during his time there, he also studied with internationally renowned violin player Eric Sammut during his time in France. These experiences deeply inspired his multifaceted approach to modern sound structures, musical color, and rhythmic dynamics, leading to the creation of his distinctive style that combines a rigorous rationalism with a sensuous theatrical tension. Committed to creating contemporary music for performing artists, orchestras, and chamber ensembles worldwide.
Bang-Hau Liao is a Taiwanese composer and percussionist whose music brings together a grand symphonic vision and a unique modern style. After graduating from the Taipei National University of the Arts, where he studied orchestration under Professor Ma Shui-long, he moved to France for further studies. There, he studied with the world-renowned marimbist Eric Sammut. These experiences deeply inspired his ideas about sound, musical colors, and rhythms, helping him shape a style that is both well-structured and emotionally powerful. Dedicated to creating contemporary Sheet Music for global performers, orchestras, and ensembles.

His repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing large orchestral works, various instrumental chamber music, and solo pieces, and he frequently receives commissions from domestic and international orchestras and performers. Drawing on his mastery of orchestral composition and diverse vocal colors, he returns to the essence of musical emotion, striving to compose deeply expressive works that both inspire and uplift the soul.
Liao excels at combining rich melodies and rhythms within a grand orchestral framework. His works include large orchestral pieces, chamber music, and solos, and he is frequently commissioned by orchestras and musicians worldwide. With his skillful orchestration and colorful harmonies, Liao brings music back to pure emotion, dedicated to writing pieces that can both excite the heart and soothe the soul.
His works have been performed and toured with great enthusiasm by renowned orchestras and outstanding musicians such as the Longyan Symphony Orchestra, the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, the New Yi Symphony Orchestra, and the Lehong Zhi Xun Chamber Orchestra. His performances have taken place at three of Taiwan’s major national venues—the National Concert Hall, the National Theatre of Taiwan, and the Wufeng National Art and Culture Center Concert Hall—and have also traveled to Carnegie Hall in New York, USA, receiving high acclaim from a wide range of music fans and industry professionals.
His compositions have been premiered and performed by renowned orchestras and acclaimed soloists, including the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, The New Art Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia Moments Musicaux Orchestra. His music has resonated across major international stages, ranging from Taiwan’s premier venues—the National Concert Hall, National Taichung Theater, and Weiwuying Concert Hall—to the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York.
